Sex, Cigarettes and Old Hollywood Revamped?

The latest motif in fashion and popular culture, it seems, is the nostalgia of old Hollywood. With rising stars like Dita Von Teese and Scarlett Johansson's trademark as a pinup girl, it seems people are embracing the ideology so eminent during the time of Bogart. This season's bright red lip, dark eyebrows and vampy polish are returning; is it a coincidence? And cigarettes, smoke and coke are bombarding both media and marketing. Thank You For Smoking's plot point appears to be reality as fashion re welcomes smoking and its old culture as a trend. La Femme recently posted an interesting YouTube video: Tom Ford is Missing, a clip that showcases some of fashion's most successful models playing in mansions with diamonds, illegal substances, and delicious vintage gowns all in black and white. No doubt, the clip just radiates lust and glamour. What I love most about this clip is that there is absolutely no restraint; all of the characters are living life to the fullest in spite of accepted morals. Hana thoroughly enjoys lounging with boy toys as Carine nonchalantly experiences a high. Editorials and spreads in fashion magazines all over the world are trying to recreate that same era, channeling the aura through attitude and attire. Either way, it's time for people to stop taking substance abuse so seriously so that aesthetics can overrule popular malcontent.
